Hello friends, lately i bought acer V3 laptop
    i7 3610QM
    16 GB DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia geforce GT 650M
stock HDD 750 GB, 5200 rpm + SSD 60 GB

and as this laptop has two hdd sockets, i bought second HDD SSD ADATA .

so putted this SSD in stock HDD place, On SSD are windows, and Battlefied 3 , game works perfect.

But now i have problems, with others games, which are installed on stock HDD , such as Fallout 3 new vegas, black mesa. Im playing ,everything goes perfect, max settings and so on, but im getting always like games freezes for 1-2 seconds, than back to normal, every 5-10 minutes. And this is bothering me? why it can be so? maybe i should do something in bios?

Try setting the timeouts for the hard drive to 'Never' in the 'Advanced' power profile settings (hopefully, you're also using the 'Performance Profile' too...).

    Good luck.

Ok you need to switch to the performance profile. If you STILL have problems, post again.

Could you try installing the EXACT same game that freezes on the conventional onto the SSD? If you see no lags or freezes there, then something is wrong with your conventional.

It's very likely due to too agressive power management on the HDD. For some insanely stupid reason that screws customers over, the manufacturers have forced it so that the hard drive parks the heads every minute or so, effectively stopping the drive (and thus stopping whatever that was running for a split second as it loses access to the drive and has to spin it up again). If you installed Windows on the HDD for instance you'd see your entire system freeze for a second or two.

I had the same problem on my Acer Aspire 7560G with 2x 500 GB Western Digital HDD drives (5200 rpm), and the only solution that worked for me was installing an app called "hdparm" and manually typing "hdparm -B 254 hda" and "hdparm -B 254 hdb" (without quotes) in its command line everytime on startup (b being only necessary if you have multiple normal HDDs like me).

This article is also a good read: Clicking Hard Drives « XdN , because when this happens, you should hear a noticeable click/screech from the drive too, so this puts a stop to that as well.

You can download hdparm for windows from here: Index of /hdparm

You should also try "hdparm -M 254 hda" which puts the acoustic management to minimum level, and speeds up the drive. It doesn't need to be retyped on startup either, but the -B command does. My own hard drives are just as quiet on the minimal and maximum settings so it's another mysterious power save feature that just slows it down.

I think hdparm can also be ran as a service in Windows if you don't like using the command line utility all the time. I've gotten into the habit of using the command line just in case I'm traveling and I'd actually want the power saving features (but on desk there is no reason not to use hdparm).

I still think this is thermal throttling. CPU/GPU downclocks itself to prevent overheating than the game stutters than go back to normal...

If that was the case it would happen with games on the SDD as well. The OP claims it only happens with the HDD.
