I was wondering if there is anyway to get a gaming type laptop to get a good 3+ hours of battery life...be it by decreasing the processing power with notebook control, or w/e. just an inquiry on whether its possible.

You can underclock and undervolt the CPU and the graphics card significantly, I would imagine.

yeah. so would it be able to do this at will...lets say when i need the performance i can click an option have it on Performance level, and then when i need the comp to be in max battery performance and get it to last more than 3hrs or so...would i be able to do that? like i said...notebook hardware control prog lets me under clock the cpu from a let say 1.79ghz to a 800 mhz so i dont have use so much battery life.

Yeap, almost all notebooks nowadays have their own program which clocks down/up the processor when needed. Programs like NHC and RMClock further detail when to clock/volt the processor when needed.
getting a gaming laptop like a G1...
