    hey

i'm looking at getting a barebone notebook but heard general statements that usually they don't come with the best displays... any good barebone makers out there and anyone used and compared against "normal" notebook monitors?

Yeah, Asus is probably the best among barebone makers. But Compal, MSI, Quanta, Clevo all do produce some good/decent laptops.

Asus makes some of the Apple models, so they should be quite high quality. but of course, different models/chassis come from different plants that have diffences in quality, altho it is all under Asustek.

just like how some car plants only assemble 2 or 3 cars, but belong to a larger company.

Asus barebones can be found with most of their resellers. They will probably sell you just the laptop without the cpu, HDD, RAM, OS, Wifi which constitutes it to be a barebone.

ASUS is a Taiwanese notebook company :)

As for the ASUS barebones, check the ASUS FAQ in the ASUS forums :)
