I'm planning to put arctic silver on my nvidia 260M GTX Im going to get

    coffee filters
    arctic silver
    90% isoprophyl alcohol

Is this the correct stuff to use? Can I do the entire cleaning with a coffee filter and alcohol or do I need something else? I'm wondering if the alcohol is going to dissolve large amounts of the gunk but I don't want to get some fancypants specialized cleaner I don't need.

    that will work

I rarely do coffee filters though, dont' think its necessary. i just use some paper towel with some 99% isopropyl

AS5 is old now...there are better pastes available, but it is tried, tested and true

Here, look at moderate contact for what you might expect in a laptop. I just repasted with PK-1 not long ago:

99%? So 90% is not good?

90 should be fine. i like 99 cause it evaporates cleaner, but its so close, i wouldn't worry about it

Purchasing 99% IPA must be a state-by-state thing. The highest percentage IPA I can find where I live is 94%.

As far as cleaning the old gunk off goes, I like to use coffee filters and IPA. Anything over 90% is more than enough to dissolve and cleanup old TIM.

The thing about using paper towels or worse toilet paper is it often leaves little pieces of paper fiber and fuzz on the die.

^ Then you have to use some compressed air to remove it. I've learned that the hard way.
