I'm looking at upgrading my laptop's video card.I own an hp/compaq nc6400 with ati mobility x1300 card (128mb dedicated and upto 512mb hyper memory). My question is what options do i have as far as upgrading goes,Can upgrade it to x1600/or go7600.Is the x1300 soldered on the motherboard?.The main reason for upgrade is that my graphics card does not display 1440*900 resolution at a refresh rate of 75Hz on my external lcd.I usa a vga cable to connect to the monitor.

Its not possible to upgrade graphics cards in notebooks. Theres only a small percentage of notebooks which have upgradeable graphics cards, and even they have some criteria they have to meet. Your current Mobility X1300 should quite easily be able to display that resolution, but perhaps not at that refresh rate. Check the settings, as you might be able to do it wih a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
