This looks like CF, not ZIF... in other words, this is basically a USB CF card reader. What exactly do you want; a CF USB reader?

I want to connect an usb pen drive to my notebook that has a zif interface. But I don't want a full size 1.8 ZIF board. I want 1" aka half size zif.
I could also use a ZIF to SD adapter too. but it can't be full size.

Those ZIF to CF cards already makes it too big.

I've seen usb to zif, like for having an external hard drive. I want the opposite. zif to usb.

no worries about micro USB to full size USB. Doesn't matter to me.

But what I want is exactly the opposite. not ZIF to microUSB but microusb to ZIF!

Not sure if such an adapter exists. But I would think it could go either way. After all, USB to SATA works exactly the same as SATA to USB. The data is full duplex, so it can travel in both directions. Not sure about zif though. Never dealt with it.

are you sure that sata is full duplex and that it would work both ways?

You're right. SATA is half duplex. My mistake. But data from either the USB or SATA side can travel in either direction. In other words, a drive should be able to plug into the adapter onto either the SATA or USB side, and the other port to the system and it will read the drive no matter what. I will test this with one of my USB to SATA hard drive caddys and see if it can send data thru the usb.

I think it will work because such devices exist.

I also found out that I've pata 40pin and that all pcbs are 50pin. but I think it's not an issue because there's converters.

But I just realised it would have to be usb3.0 because usb2.0 would limit it to 60mb/s at most. so I really need usb3.0.

In alternative I could use flash storage like SD or CF. but those are huge and are full size and don't fit. I need half zif.

I don't understand why I can't find smaller zif to sd converters.

    I've also found this:

    It's exactly what I want except it's 2.5" 44pin IDE and I need ZIF.

since I can't find usb3.0 to ZIF I think the next best option is to use an SD card. since usb2.0 is limited to 60MB/s at least with an SD card I could go up to 95MB/s. Not far from the ZIF limit of 133MB/s.
A CF to ZIF would also work but the adapters I've seen are huge.
