Depends on your needs, really. The HDD is the bottleneck, so 7200 vs 5400 RPM does make a difference. Question is, what are your storage needs? Do you really need the extra 60GB? And if you do, do you happen to have a HDD lying around that you can get an external enclosure for and use it to store your songs, etc?

If you can live with 100GB, I say go for it.

go with 7200 rpm if you're ok with the 100gb capacity. Faster rpm the better when playing games, as it will use everything your computer got.

The faster RPM will decrease load times for your games. It won't affect in game performance though but you'll have shorter load times.

I myself would take the 7200 rpm hard drive. 100GB is plenty for me.

I have been thinking of getting a 500 gig external hard drive within the next few months for use with my desktop pc. I expect that I can use it with both the desktop and notebook for storing media files. While more is always better, I can get by on 100 GB if I need to. I just won’t be able to install a lot of games at the same time. I am the type of person who will always fill up a hard drive no matter what size it is. If the space is there ,it will be used.

    I have a 7200RPM internal HDD and a 250GB 7200RPM external HDD. Works perfectly.
