    hard drive can be such a bottom neck...

    i just upgraded memory from 512 to 1.5gig...and i've notice little to no difference in day to day computing.

    i suppose a 5200 rpm hard drive is really that much of a bottle neck (compared to my 7200 rpm in desktop)...

    anyway, the point of this post:

    if you don't mind the extra heat from the 7200 rpm notebook hard drive...upgrade that before you upgrade ram :eek:

    When I boot up with all the extra apps that I have, add to that firefox I consume around 400MB RAM. So yes in the normal usage, internet and office there isn't much of a gain.

    But for gaming, encoding, compression, simulations... the extra RAM is always good to have, even when you go over 1GB

    I have 2GB of ram with a 5400rpm drive. It is definatly a bottle neck. :p I shoule upgrade my hard drive. lol
