a friend's hard drive just crashed on his computer. He tried to load his OS. he wants to know if there is anyway to load it even with a hard drive crash. i told him there wasn't.but he was looking for a second opinion. and i knew this would be the place to ask..thanks :)

If the HDD is physically damaged it won't work. So how did he crash it ? Dropped the notebook off the first floor or installed a faulty driver and stuff ??

Well the term "crashed" is commonly used by non-technical computer users associating to a non-booting computer or a fubared OS. It may not actually mean "broken" hard drive.

You won't believe how many times people said to me that their "hard drive crashed" when infact Windows screwed up. And they used the term "hard drive" referring to their computer desktop.
