    hey!

i just bought myself an s7010D and it came with a 60gig 4200 hard drive. i would really like to get a 60gig 7200 Hitachi, which i am planning on buying. but in the meantime, i wasn't sure if i should customize anything on my laptop since i am going to be getting my new 7200 hard drive in a few weeks. but i really want to be able to get it all set up.

so what i was wondering is...... if i got an external enclosure along with my 7200 drive, is it possible to hook it up to my laptop as is right now and some how mirror what is on there on to the new hard drive. then i could exchange them which would give me the 7200 drive as my main drive in the notebook, and put the old drive in the external enclosure for storage...

is this possible? and what would i need to do this?

    thanx!
    chris

Yes, you need something like Norton Ghost to transfer over the entire drive image.

    hey

thanx for the quick reply! i do have Nero Back-It-Up... will this work as well?

all i have to do is to make a partition backup and then just select the destination as my new hard drive in the external case right?

    thanx!

I haven't used Nero, but if it does the same thing, it will work.
