Okay I ordered the kingston 1gb mem for my idell 9600. I got two of them for a total of 2gigs of ram. I installed them and rebooted my comp. Everything looked fine except for my wired nic kept saying low or no connectivity. It keeps getting the 169 ip address. Anyone run into this?

i don't have that notebook or that problem, but i doubt that the NIC would have issues because of the RAM.

if you have a cable or dsl modem I would try to reset that modem, sometimes they have problems.

thats a dhcp error. Meaning that your laptop cant find a dhcp server and is assigning a default windows IP address. Make sure your wireless router/acess point is still working correctly because installing ram wont do that. To test it connect to the wifi spot thats yours and type in: ipconfig /release "wireless network connection" (with parentheticles) then when it gives you a 0.0.0.0 address type: ipconfig /renew "wireless network connection" .

If that works then you may be ok if it doesnt then you have a dhcp issue. Im sure this should also be posted in the wireless area so it may get moved.

ya it was the router. I reset it the first time and nothing happened. I should have checked it further. It was just that right after I installed the mem and rebooted I started having the problems. thanks for helping me get my head outta my 3rd point of contact.
