    hi all , i Have an acer aspire 9423 and when i switch it on the lights illuminate an the back light of the screen comes on but there is no picture on the screen at all , also i cannot hear any fans kicking in or anything , however if i insert a disc i can hear the drive reading the disc,. If any one has any ideas it would be much appreciated , thanks

    It's very possible it could be the Nvidia Go 7300 graphics adapter. The 7xxx series were faulty as well as the 8400/8600 cards. I've had a Go 7300 and a Go 7600 both fail.

    Dead GPU... especially if its 7300.. that series along with 8000 and 6000 had solder issues... u need a new motherboard but its not worth it.. the laptop's too old and obsolete.. new laptop shopping time.. next time don't buy NVIDIA :D

    Can you hook up an external monitor and get anything when you turn it on? If you can, then it's not your video card.

    Buy a new computer. As mentioned before purchasing a new motherboard would be a waste of money.

    Ya and Go7300 would burn again.. very flamable series.

    You could probably get $100 for it on eBay, as long as its in good shape.
