Hi,
I just bought a new COMPAQ notebook with 40GB hard disk. I want to partition the hard disk into two parts. But I found partition magic8.0 can't do this job. I called the company and they told me this software is not compatible with COMPAQ notebook. So could anyone recommend a good software to do this job? Thanks!

If you are willing to re-install the Operating System, you can use Fdisk at the command prompt to make as many partitions as you want. I don't know who told you Partition Magic can't resize your partitions, but the last time I used it, version 6 I believe, it worked fine. Good Luck.

Get Knoppix (free Linux distribution that runs directly from CD) and use qtparted to repartition your drive. I have not verified this on HP/Compaq laptops but I did use it on a desktop drive.

hi,
i just bought a hp compaq nx8220.....used partion magic 8.0 and it worked perfectely fine, no problems....it was super fast aswell. But if your still finding sofware probles, back up what ever you files you need and reboot your laptop with your xp cd in your optical drive.. Then its all a matter of following the direction you get on the screen. THis method should take about 35 to 40 minutes, plus you got to reinstall all your sofware and drivers agian. Hope it works out for you.
