i current bought a used pavilion XH575 notebook. it have a 950MHz AMD CPU in it now any ideas on a upgrade looking for at least a 1.5-1.8GHz? thanks

It depends on the motherboard your laptop has. if you could take the case apart (carefully) and see if the processor is socketed or hardwired. Then determine what northbridge chipset your motherboard uses if its socketed and what CPU it could support. Remember you need to use the mobile version of the CPU as the voltages and pinning may vary.

well its an AMD processor in the laptop now but i dont now how to determine what socket it is but it looks similar to the sempron or XP mobile. thanks for the info

Try running CPU-Z . It will list the processor type & the socket. But you will still have to physically check to see whether if the cpu is soldered or not on to the motherboard.
