I just purchased a universal external battery pack for my laptop. For some reason when i plug in this new battery pack, my laptop makes this high pitch squeaking sound. There is no sound if i use either original battery or the power pack. Is this something i should worry about? thanks for the help

Is it the laptop or the battery making the noise? The reason I ask is that I once had an external battery for a Palm PDA that made a high pitched squealing type sound when plugged into the PDA. It also seemed to get warm rather quickly when re-charging the PDA. I think there must have been something wrong with whatever voltage regulating circuitry was in the battery pack. In any case, it eventually died and I bought another one which has never made the sound.
I know this doesn't really help....just sharing a similar experience. -
my packard bell laptop makes a high-pitched sound when its idling, wheter its on battery or AC. Also, i heard that many laptops have this problem, known as ''cpu whine'', so i don't think there's any problem.

the high pitch squeaking sound comes from the laptop when it is plugged into the external battery pack. But it is silent if it is connected to a regular wall outlet. i was thinking it might be the different voltage/current .(not sure, not very familiar) could it possibly fry my hardware?
help with external battery back squeak
