im think of getting an external closure with esata to replace the one i have , but there something i dont get. some manufacturer put the size the enclosure can handle up to and some dont. my hd is 1tb so i am wondering does every enclosure work or not?. Also is it possible to have the external hd connect to two different pc at the same time ? one using esata the other using usb. although i dont think that possible![]()

Most of the time, manufacturers that produce HDD enclosures just list the size of the largest drive available on the market at the time. The SATA controller in most enclosures can handle capacities much larger than the largest capacity drives on the market right now. I have two Antec MX-1 enclosures that were advertised for "up to 750GB" on the box. I have a Seagate ES.2 1TB running in each of them and they are running just fine for the past few years.
No, you cannot connect the hard drive to two different computers using two different interfaces. -
