I use to have an hi-grade 8615 , I added WiFi and upgraded the celeron 1.6 to an Intel T2050 dual core, when hi-grade told me it would not work.

The laptop is a bare bones one made by Mitac , and sold by Hi-Grade they fit cpu memory and wifi, the link below has the drivers as an image file.

I fitted an Athros WiFi card to mine, and it sometimes would not work, the WiFi led would not come on.

I had to press the Fn and one of the F keys on bootup to get it to work.

Hi ya thanks for the reply so do you think that it is worth putting the wifi back in and trying the fn+f keys?

Did you get no display when it did not work?

Thanks again i was hoping that you would reply as i have been reading you posts and think that it would be good to upgrade to the t2050 as they are only like £15 on ebay.

    Thanks again

No my notebook worked fine, the wifi just did not work, when i got it working i just never turned it off with the Fn keys.

So your display does not work when you plug in the intel 4965 ag , that does not sound right? , I never had that problem.

You maybe have a duff card.

So should any card work or does it have to be a compatable one? What would be the best one to buy next?

    Thanks again

I just bought a Gigabyte branded card, it turned out to be an Athoros chipset , I suppose any brand should work? , but Athoros make good WiFi cards.

unless you can try it in another notebook you don't know for certain.

It might be worth trying the card in the notebook again.

Also I have the t2050 comming aswell so cant wait for that. I got it on ebay for £5.45 so fingers crossed. (is there anything i need to do before I change it or just put the heat compound on?)

It pretty simple, remove the 4 screws from the cpu heatsink , also the screws holding the fan in place and remove the fan power plug, you should be able to jiggle the whole heatsink and fan assembly out, check for and clean out any dust you find.

There was a thermal pad on the bottom of the cpu heatsink , I just cleaned it off and used some AS5 instead , make certain the cpu it contacting the heatsink no gap, before you turn on the notebook.

A couple of pictures i took of mine before i changed the CPU , it should be the same on yours.

Do more research on what type of Wifi adapter before you order them out next time, not every adapter is of good quality after all And congratulations on your successful wifi connection..

Got it all sorted now. I get the feeling it is slower with the new t2050, do I need to have more memory than what I have? I have a 512 and a 256 fitted at the moment so 768mb @ 533mhz. It had a 1.7 processor in it before.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again
