    how do i hook up my laptop to speakers?

    Ok my friend is having a new years party and he kinda wants me to control the music, i have many songs on my computer i can use to control the music, but obviosly i cant play the music from my laptop or nobody will hear it

    i have a gateway mx6931 with hd audio sigmatek (or somethin like that)

    it has a mic in and mic out port in the front i think

    how would i hook this up to a stereo system at his house

    If you're completely lost, I would suggest a visit to radio shack. They should have what you need. =)

    What kind of stereo is it? If it's a regular PC stereo, then just plug the 2.5" jack into your notebook's port. Otherwise, it could be a bit more complicated.

    you'll probably need a mini-plug to RCA y-cable if it's a normal home stereo with an auxiliary input. radio shack or any electronics store will have them.

    All you need is something like this:

    If there's a Fry's or Radio shack store in your area, they have it. They sell it cheaper at Fry's though. Plug one end to the "headphone jack" and the other 2 to the sound system.

    you can find that sort of thin at walmart as well.
    but it may or may not be cheaper.
