I'm messing around with Throttlestop and XTU on my carbon X1 6gen... I think i've determined that in the BIOS I have (1.31) there seems to be no way to actually modify the Turbo Boost power levels and time limits -- even though they are available as things to change in Throttlestop, changing these values does not appear to actually change the power delivered to the CPU under heavy load.
Are there other utilities available that can directly read the registers that correspond to the actual state on the chip?

OK, some further investigation led me to HWINFO, which is a great little tool. When I look at the output it APPEARS as if HWINFO thinks those registers are unlocked... so now I"m back to trying to figure out whether they actually ARE unlocked, or whether Throttlestop doesn't want to overwrite them, or whether there's something else in the way.

The turbo power limits are stored in multiple locations. When using ThrottleStop, make sure you have this option checked in the FIVR window.
There is a 900+ page ThrottleStop Guide thread on NBR. The link is in my signature.Papusan likes this.
how do we confirm/refute that the PL1/PL2 power settings are unlocked?
