    Which dongle do you have exactly? You can try to install the Toshiba bluetooth stack.

    I have the Bluesoleil mini-usb dongle.

    On my last laptop (Lenovo T61), it used to turn dark red once you plug it in and you could look for other devices. On my current laptop I get nothing it stays black (off).

    no, I think it's showing up as an unknown device, not sure, but I don't see bluetooth.

    I think I did a bad install of windows xp on this system, some of the device manager, usb and intel drivers get errors when I try to update...

    I will try the vista dvd ( :( ) and lenovo drivers cd that came with the system.
