basic rule of thumb I would say is 30%.
But it depends on the cooling and how much votage you give it. -
Actually, a 2.0+GHz Core 2 Duo is probably going to be fine for most people. -

so it wont make it any faster?

Not really, depends on what the notebook will be used for.
But I do suggest following the undervolting guide.
BTW, what will the notebook be used for? -
my mums gonna use it to serf the web and type word stuff.
But I was hoping I could get it to run empire total war cuz my PC cant, and I pay like 1,20 euros an hour ot play it on net cafe -

Overclocking would only give you maybe a few extra frames per second.
Try it first without overclocking, and make sure the video driver is up to date.
If it's too slow, then maybe overclock the GPU. -
nah the GFX will have no probs its HD 4560
-
What's wrong with the CPU? I think it's pretty good actually and sure, it'll be a little faster if you overclock it.
-
I would say it's good overall but a better processor would help a little in everyday tasks and some games... thr GPU is quite good, u can play call of duty 4 etc....
-
The cpu as described is just fine for what your mother will be doing and for your game.
There is no reason to overclock it because it won't really speed things up.
Games are predominantly more dependent on gpu's (true, not all, but most), and the one in that laptop is more than adequate.
Other than undervolting the cpu in question, I would personally not overclock the cpu (heck, I did not overclock the one in my laptop and I play more sophisticated games occasionally, and use 3d Studio Max). -
Hi there.
As said above, a C2D T6500 at 2.1GHz will run very fast. And in day-to-day apps, a 2.0/2.1/2.2/2.3 is almost all the same. Sure the faster the better, but for word, and surfing the web, better get a faster HDD or SSD and a good wireless card with N capabilities.
The fast HDD or SSD will keep loading times to a minimum. The wireless makes you surf faster. And if you want to game, the 4650HD is almost on top of its class, and paired with a T6500 will run quite fast and most current games on medium settings. -
Most people who think they need a faster CPU actually need a faster Hard Drive. The average user will get much more performance out of a hard drive upgrade than they will out of upgrading a CPU or overclocking (exceptions apply but if you are unsure they usually don't)

how fast can it go?
