yes, you can do this as long as your laptop put on a safe place and no anyone touch. CPU cooler fan will cool down the temperature when it is hot during the power is still on and keep running....

I've done that a few times; nothing serious. I don't know about doing it every day though...

Been about 2 weeks for me heh. Although, I have kept it in hibernate, so I could move it around, so I don't know if that applies :p

My 700Mhz sony vaio has been up 24 hrs a day 365 days a year for 5 years now (almost).
My T30 is also up 24/7.

It should not really cause any problems - unless the notebook is itself defective.

No change really compared to a desktop running 24/7

Buy a notebook cooler if you plan leaving it on alot, laptop should be fine anyway but its better to keep it as cool as possible :)

A solution would be to buy a notebook that does not let temperature rise like crazy (eg the macbook pro).
I'm certain peak temps can be reached in under 60 min, and if you cannot operate the laptop for 3-4 straight hours, whats the use ??

What I'm trying to say is either laptop has a heat problem and will run into trouble in a short time, or 2)It can be run 24/7

Notebook cooler in addition is also a good idea - the cooler the better.
