how long would an intel T7250 processor last (paired with an nvidia 8600GT) on a six cell battery?? i know nothing of batteries, but would saying three hours be overkill? maybe two? hopefully not one. or am i so unproficient in my laptop battery knowledge to know that there are different levels of six cell batteries?

Depends on other things too, and can vary between manufacturers.
Other things such as your screen size and its brightness and your HDD rpm.
Also there is "High-Capacity" cells in batteries which make it last longer, than regular ones, but they aren't that popular.

You probably won't be hitting 3 hours, but somewhere over 2 for sure. But like allan said, a lot of other things count towards battery life.

And what you are doing with the computer, high demand CPU tasks mixed with high GPU tasks would drastically lessen time span. As a complete guess and assuming you are using power saving features of CPU, doing office or surfing type tasks you would expect in the 2 hour range not 3 on a "standard" 6-cell. But just a guess.

My XPS M1530 (T7250, 8600M GT, 6 cell) gets between 2 and 3 hours (about 1 when gaming) depending on what I'm doing and how bright the screen is.
