    Hi!

I have a Vostro 1310 with a Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to have two finger scrolling on my touchpad, and how I can go about acquiring it?

    Thanks in advance.

I know this isn't exactly helpful (encouraging), but I searched for this capability pretty extensively a while back, and I do not think it's possible. I think that the majority of touchpads were intended for single-touch, not multi-touch (like with the Macbooks).

If you do somehow find the magical solution, please let us know!

Asus Eee also has multi touch.

I wonder why we can't have it on other laptops.

Sorry, but as meetloaf said, it's only for the macbooks/pro, because it requires multitouch. And yes, the eee does also have that capability.

So why isn't it available for other laptops? Clearly almost everone who has worked with wants this.

wrong. mac has two fingers scrolling since powerbook G4, multitouch means more than just two finfers scrolling.

think synaptics touchpads have this 'ability' hidden away..

go search for "m1330 2 finger scrolling"... i know the first link is kinda out of the rules for this forum, but u can see that it works on the 'other' OS on M1330, and many laptops are able to use this feature in Linux

    http://lucumr.pocoo.org/cogitations/2007/11/13/two-finger-scrolling-on-ubuntu/

im just guessing someone has to hack the driver for Windows... someone suggested runnign Wubi + linux driver for 2 finger scrolling.... im trying it, report back with results liater

and go to Synaptics website and download their generic driver.... extract it and look at the .inf
search for "2 finger" and u'll see many registry edits.... though none of the programs actualy support 2 finger..... :(
