    hp pavillion dv 9000

    Hi
    Have an hp pavillion, turion64 x2, tl-60.
    When i measure both temps with "core temp", it shows a big differens. Ex. one core shows 55 and the other 45,,,its a gap of almost 10 degree all the time. Is this normal.
    Should mention that my MB has been replaced by HP.
    And should there be huge differens between when the computer is on power supply and with just on the battery?

    I wouldnt worry about it. Its just that, what your doing- most likely is more operatred by the first core. On my Toshiba i just sold, (C2D T7200)- i would have anywhere from a 2-15 degree difference usually.

    well... each core is probably being used differently.. one core is pretty much always used more than the other.. that is normal

    I crunch numbers with my processor, so each core runs at 100% load. one core is at 115F and the other is at 122F. It is a 8F difference in temperatures.
    Why is this, it is simple. The thermal diode is on the left side of the logic chip on the processors core. So in a dual core, there are two cores next to each other. One of the thermal diodes is on the left side of the left chip, the other diode is on the left side of the right chip. Because of their placement, the first cores thermal diode is always lower because it faces the outer edge of the chip. The second core always runs hotter, because its placement of the thermal diode is close to the first core. Therefore some of the thermal energy from the first core makes its way across the 1-2mm gap between cores, causing the diode on the second chip to read a higher temperature.

    What about the second question, should it be big differense between power supply and battery. On idle, its between 40-45 degree on battery, and on power supply between 55-60 degree.
