My current cq56 is with a 500gb seagate hdd with a intel t4500 3gb ram

Im thinking of removing the cd drive and use the hdd there and add a 64gb ssd used ( i can have a caddy for 50$

and replace the wireless card for a intel 6300 idk if the hp bios can allow them.

    and a 12cell Anker battery :D

Do you think it overkill for that poor laptop?

HP whitelist WLAN cards, so you'll need to use another HP one of the same generation. IIRC best will probably be a 5300/5100.

Upgrade your memory to 8GB, upgrade the processor to a Core 2 Duo, and forget about the wireless card.

the t4500 is more than capable and the gl40 chipset is not really build for core 2 duo but the t9300 t9500 work that is a good upgrade but even then..

And ram upgrade lol 4gb is more than enough im gaming and multitasking on a 4gb desktop yea ram bottleneck in bf4 for sure at ultra....

so ssd and cpu upgrade are on my list.

the wlan is just to get the best before there no more on sale.. So i need a hp one strange the manual do not state that...

Not overkill at all if you like the laptop.

HP and Lenovo started whitelisting WLAN cards since at least 2006/2007. They don't tell you because the wireless card isn't typically a CRU (Customer Replaceable Unit). If you put a non HP WLAN card into an HP, it won't even boot up, it'll go to a BIOS message about an unauthorized WLAN card. A custom BIOS IIRC is the only way by this, and I don't officially condone it.

Any 2.5" 9.5mm SSD will work. You aren't going to find many if any SATA 2 SSDs on the market anymore, SATA 3 SSDs will just go down to their rated SATA 2 speeds.

4GB is enough for gaming, but not for multitasking. 8GB will make your system more responsive and faster at multitasking. If your current wireless isn't causing any trouble and is as fast or faster than your internet connection, there is nothing to gain unless you want to start transfering files between your computers over wireless lan.

Tsunade, a third option is that you can flash the firmware on the wireless card itself.

was for range that i wanted to change and for stable driver... i got a realtek one..

And i dont think 8gb ram will change anything on responsiveness ( Higher clock and low latency will
