on my acer 5930g i have a 250gb hard drive but it is split into to. One is the Acer hard drive (C :) at 110gb and the other is a Data drive (D :) at 110gb

as i install games my hard drive has decreased in capactiy. Why dont i have 1 hard drive at 220 gigs? its jsut plain annoying only having 110/250gb of useful hard drive space that i can save on.

    Thanks

they are partitions, not physical hard drives.
windows recognise 1gb as 1024mb, manufacturers say 1gb is 1000mb hence the difference.

I think what willthepro wants to know is if he can save files to the drive. Yes Will, you can, when installing them you just need to change the install path, like for instance, a normal install would go to C:\Program Files, you just change that to D:\. Any further questions, just repost.

It's a much better solution, IMO, to just delete that partition and stretch C: to fill the entire drive. This is best done before anything is on the other partition of course.

If that is the Recovery Partition, better leave it the way it is, or make a backup of it.

It's not the recovery partition, I thought you were an Acer man, I thought you'd know this. Acer for a while was splitting drives 50/50 to make reformats easier, problem is people don't know how to use it that way so it doesn't help, it just makes people wonder where their hard drive space is.

I've never bought a Retail notebook, so don't know much about how Acer sets up the partitions and stuff. Other guys like Hoggie, BigO, ATG, etc keep stressing on making backups of a recovery partition, so did the same.. :p

i have a similar issue, but it is much more pressing, as my C: drive shows 20G and my D: shows 40G to get me the total of 60 that was promised. I would like to expand the C: drive to encompass the entire amount, or else reverse the 2 drives so that the default is the D: drive - can someone explain how to do either of these things to me, please?
