i'm not sure if this is the right place to put this thread, but i have a dell 1525 and it cam with a movie maker program, i can put pictures and music with it but when i try and import a video clip it says error and says that the codec required is not installed or something, i really need to be able to put videos on it, and also when i want to watch my videos i can only watch them on quick player but i want to play it on windows media player.

The file C:\Users\Michael\Documents\Azureus Downloads\skating pics&vids\mic 2 057.3GP cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

thats what it says when i try to import a video to movie maker

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

and thats what it says when i try to watch a video on windows media player

    please help me!

Try install CCCP for the codecs.

If it doesn't work, you could probably find a program to convert the video to say XviD or WMV before you import it in.

i'm sure that windows movie maker does not support 3gp which is mobile phone format?
3gp is a apple quicktime player format is it not?

I myself have Roxio to convert my things before using windows movie maker to compress if needed.

To put some kinds fo videos onto Windows Movie Maker, you will have to convert those files with a file converting software such as SUPER (free download) or if you are using a good video editing software such as DVD Slideshow Builder (this is what I use) or something comparable then your files don't have to be converted. You can just add them to the program and start from there.
