my friend aid he can upgrade my computer to windows ultimate and i was wondering if its worth it or am i even compatible. i am right now with windows vista home edition and i have a Toshiba satellite A215-S5822. would my laptop run alright with ultimate? and should i let my friend do it?. will i lose any data?
-
It will definitely run it, though absolutely not worth it, since a copy of Ultimate is almost 1/3 the cost of the computer.
-
If you can run home premium and your happy with it then ultimate should run fine. All it does is add some bells and whistlesl Nothing really important besides some networking doodads (domains and such I think).
Personally don't think its worth the money. I have it on my office desktops and besides the free games that amuse the other cubicle monkeys there doesn't seem to be any noticeable difference. -
I find ultimate has alot of stuff you dont neccesarily need, which will probably just slow down your computer.
Having the words Vista 'Ultimate' just sounds alot better -
Just use one of these wallpapers.

wha about for security reasons and im getting it for free. would it slow be down alot?
-
If you're friend's giving it to you for free, $10 says it's pirated, which means you could be screwing yourself over with SP1 on the horizon.

im going to find that kind of stuff out first but what if he bought it would it be able to be used for multiple computers. im real sorry i just now noticed how little i know about computers
-
If its used on multiple computers and Microsoft see's it, they will lock down both computers and be asked to re-activate again
