    I'm considering getting a Lenovo x220, Dell vostro v131, or Lenovo x120e.

I have concerns about the load temps for the Intel Core i3 2310m, which is what I'd get with the x220 or v131. I've heard that x220's get particularly hot, but I don't know if this is the case with just the i5's or if it is the case with the i3 as well. I'm also wondering how similar the temps are in the v131 with the i3.

I will be playing some games like TF2 and Left 4 Dead 1/2, and I will also probably run Gentoo Linux on whatever machine I get. Gentoo is brutal on processors that run on the hot side!

Can anyone provide any insight on the i3 2310m? Particularly when used in the x220 or v131?

You should go to Lenovo / Dell forums and ask for those specific models.

There is nothing extraordinary for i3 2310m. It can run at 45C or 95C depending on the cooling capacity of the laptop.
