How would the performance of a Haswell i3 (i3-4000M) compare with an i5-4200M coupled with the same card (GT745M) in modern games and games that would be released 2/3 years into the future? I don't want to run anything maxed out...900p or even 768p would be fine with medium settings. I've asked this question before but still haven't come to a conclusion because of budget limits.

By the way, are there any games out there that definitely benefit from an i5's turbo boost at medium settings?

i5 but I would if money spares get a i7 socket Intel that will give you better future CPU upgrade options. Those boost only helps if the apps uses them otherwise it's a gimmick. Games relies on the GPU more also if you game get a 17inch it will cost more and make the laptop weight more. If you want gaming be prepared to sacrifice weight/portability for gaming pleasure.
