Guys,
I have an acer 5349 with Celeron B800. Today I tried to upgrade the CPU to an i3-2350m. It boos OK with video card with standard VGA. After I installed intel video driver, it shuts down while starting windows 7 every time.
I also tried to re-install a fresh windows7, two version of Intel driver, the latest and 8.15 on acer support page, all give same result. So is it the CPU bad?

Have you installed the chipset driver that matches your new CPU?

Thanks for the reply. The h65m chipset driver was installed for the celeron, so I did not re-install it. I also tried that CPU with Linux distros. Both new linux just quit too.

Have you heard of any success stories involving an installation of the i3-2350m processor and an Acer Aspire 5349? A quick perusing via search engine reveals only Celeron processor offerings with the Aspire 5349. Perhaps since there never was any offering of the i3 with the Aspire 5349 then Acer never included that processor in the BIOS. It is interesting however because from what I gather your Aspire was able run at some point with the i3-2350m installed.

Quote from acer community, someone has put an i5-2450m.
Hi guys . I have a acer aspire 5349 and I did the cpu upgrade to the core i 5 2450 M without bios flash or anything and it runs smooth and stable. So for the guys who want to do this go ahead it works wonderfully. I upgraded from the standard 1.6ghz cpu to the i 5 cpu without problems. The i5 cpu is a sandy bridge cpu and is compatible with the acer system my system is upgraded with 500 gig hdd and 6 gig ram with core i5 cpu and its as stable as it can get just do not over clock you system as it may lead to overheating and cause damages.

I doubt acer would remove the support for I3, it costs them to do that. My 2350m can run into windows 7 after the intel GPU driver removed. With old B800 cpu back, it even works with intel driver.

Would be nice if your sitch would work!
Have you reset your BIOS settings to default? I vaguely remember reading somewhere regarding CPU switching and a few cases where the user had issues that were solved by booting into BIOS, loading default settings, saving the default settings, and restarting. -
Bought a new i3-2370m off ebay, put it on, no change on bios, just worked with hd 3000 driver. CPU damage on 2350 confirmed.
i3-2350m could not load HD 3000 driver, a bad CPU?
