Is the i3 good enough for gaming (mostly FPS)? Or should I expect much better performance from the i5 processors? The i3-4000m and i5-4200m would be paired with a GT745M but the Ivy bridge i5 comes with a GT750m. I don't think there's much difference between the two GPUs for my needs but what about the processor?
-
Does any of it has gddr5 memory for the graphics? Whichever has it, will perform the best. The 750m and 745m are the same chip just at different clock speeds.
-
what hailgod said. Also, if the ivy bridge laptop is the better option, entry level quad i7 chips are pretty cheap aftermarket.
-
duo core processors are good enough for gaming. Hyperthreaded i7s are only really needed for intense photo editing or video rendering.
I have an i7 4700mq and playing dota 2 doesnt even reach 40% cpu usage. -
DOTA 2 is non-demanding. Meanwhile BF4 is using 90% of an i7.
-
LOL playing bf4 on gt 745m. Please enlighten me.
-
i7 is cpu. Gt745m is gpu. Big difference. Bf4 will eat as many cpu cycles as you can throw at it and improve fps accordingly.
Beamed from my G2 Tricorderocticeps likes this. -
Thanks. Do you mean to say that i3 vs i5 won't make a big difference when the graphics card is superior?
-
I never said they were the same. Read what i type and what i replied to again. Maybe get your brain working too.

Are you dyslexic? Did you even read what you wrote? We were discussing CPU requirements in games not GPU's before your Freudian slip about your GT 745M and BF4.
i3-4000M or i5-4200M or i5-3230M
