    i5 22410M turbo speed

    Hi. Been testing out my laptop cpu today with various bench tools. The stock speed is 2.3GHz with turbo boost up to 2.9GHz. When doing superpi or prime 95 or in fact any stress test to test the turbo boost, cpu-z always shows me 2694.3MHz maximum speed, no more. But my super PI speed is 14.2 seconds which is on par with what notebook reviews has so my cpu is presumably working at the same speed as them when they benched.

    When doing XS bench score built into realtemp, it says speed 2883.49 MHz which is as close as dammit to the 2.9 turbo speed, while cpu-z still reads 2694 MHz. So, what's that all about? Why does cpu-z say 2694MHz when realtemp says 2.88GHz? Does this mean cpu-z is inaccurate?

    Seems like cpu-z is pretty accurate after all. With prime95 on small FFT's, cpu-z and intel turbo boost monitor both show 2.7Ghz. When I ran realtemp XS bench though, the monitor showed 2.90Ghz and the speed test averaged at 2.88. So why doesn't prime95 or other tests reach 2.9 as well? Surely maximum stress would push the turbo to the same as the XS bench did?

    I think cpu-z is simply showing you maximum performance with both cores running and Prime95 with single core turbo boost.

    The base frequency of your cpu is 2.3ghz.
    The turbo boost for dual cores is 2.7ghz.
    The turbo boost for single core is 2.9ghz.

    Cpu-z is showing you the maximum performance of your cpu using both cores. Prime95 is showing you maximum performance of your cpu using a single core.

    Ah, thanks very much, that makes sense. :) I didn't realise maximum for dual cores is 2.7Ghz. So that means it's all as it should be.

    Btw, if you're still around Cat1981England, when I use prime 95 small FFT's, my temp goes to 72c and stays there as you can see in the screenshot. Is that a decent/normal temp to expect under load stress?

    It's a pleasure. :)

    The i5m's have a max temperature threshold of 100c, so it's only once you get into the low/mid 80's that you should start to be concerned.

    72c is good, and Realtemp shows 72c for both cores, which tells you that the cooling is nice and even across the cpu.
