    Hi everyone,

I recently see a laptop Lenovo G560 which has equiped with i5 and GL40 chipset. I am very glad anyone could clarify following concerns about this configration:

    1. As I know that i5 has integrated the memory controller and GPU within the cpu, and My concerns are that will the this memory controller bypass the one on the mainboard, in order words, the GL40 chipset will only support memory up to DDR3 800MHZ, if with i5 cpu, will it ignore the memory constraints of the mainboard and support memory say to DDR1033?

    2. and similar to question above, will the GPU inside the i5 bypass the integared cpu on the mainboard? as I know the GPU inside the i5 is 4500HD which is better than the one 4500 on the GL40 chipset.

    3. will the new features (integrated GPU and Memory controller) in the i5 cpu be affected by the old chipset say GL40, and how much performance will it be affected? or think it another way, will these new feature improve the performance of the old Chipset , if yes, how much performance will it achieve?

Thanks very much for your time.

are u sure as i5 processors do not use GL40 chipset.. they use PM , HM55 chipsets.... check again as this is not possible.

There are a lot of mistakes in the spec list.

The G550 and the G560 are two different notebooks. The G550 used the older Intel platform and had the Intel GL40 chipset, which worked with Celeron 900 and Pentium Dual-Core processors; it also included Intel 4500M graphics.

The newer G560 is the G550's replacement and uses an Intel 5-series chipset, which works with Intel Core i3/i5 processors.

If you are interested in that notebook, I would double-check with the seller which model they are selling.
