Right now I'm using an aging laptop with a Pentium M 1600mhz. If I have a few programs open it starts stuttering...iTunes is painful on it. So basically, I'm sick and tired of it and want a beast. I want to be able to open whatever the heck I want, four-five programs or more, whatever...and have it not even stutter.

Would a i5-430m be able to do that? My brain tells me ya but considering the suffering I've been under with this laptop...I just want to make sure. The i5-520m is natively as fast as the 430 on turboost and gets all the way to 2.93 where the 430 tops out at 2.53. Basically, will I notice any difference? I don't do any video encoding or whatever....down the line if I did though, would it be anything significant between the two? Or even with the 540m?

    Thanks!

My measly P7350 at 2.4 GHz gives me no stuttering with regular programs at all. Today, any dual core is much much better than the Pentium M (I had the same 1.6 GHz Pentium M, but I upgraded to 2.0 GHz for $70 two years ago and saw a pretty big difference).
