Is there a major real world difference? I'm planning to buy a laptop and the i5-2410 cost $220 more.
i5-520m / HD 5870 1GB / 1366x769 = $930
i5-2410m / GTX 560m 1.5GB / 1920x1080 = $1150
5870 vs 560 has only a minor difference in gaming. For the full hd I'm not that hype about it knowing that the gpu load will increase but I'm fine with it. The processor is what I'm really worried about.

The i5-520M is a last-generation part, so you probably shouldn't be paying so much for a laptop with a 1366x768 screen and that CPU. The second computer would be a better pick between the two, for both the screen and the latest-gen CPU.

thanks for answering. It's just that I'm tight on budget that's why I'm asking this.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Overall the 2nd notebook is better, and I think worth more than the price difference if you consider the Sandy Bridge upgrade, 560M over the 5870 Mobility, as well as a Full HD LCD.
In normal use, a i5-520M is hardly noticeable over a i5-2410M. -
Yeah, the second option (i5-2410m and GTX 560m) would likely be better because you get SB cpu and a full HD screen... plus the GTX 560m might even be slightly faster than the 5870.
Overall, the first system features a previous generation of i series cpu and it's price tag is a bit high... especially when you also take the lower resolution into account.
