Hey guys, so I was wondering....
should I go for a laptop that has the i7-2670m or wait for the new ivy bridge i7s from intel that's coming out... sooner or later? Would it make much a difference?
This laptop is going to pair up with the same graphics card, GTX 670m, so would it be worth the wait?
Also... would there be a difference, for just gaming, listening to music/watching videos if i choose a i5 as my processor, when compared to choosing an i7? Thanks in advance

Apparently the biggest difference between the 3rd gen and the 2nd gen i7 is the battery life. So if you can live without that then why not?
Just my opinion. -
The entry i7-3610qm is faster than the Sandy Bridge i7-2920xm. The i7-3610qm is selectively out right now.

3 weeks time to new stuff, depends on your need now.

Thanks for the reply everyone.
Yeah, I'm not in much of a rush so I could wait, no prob. Just thinking though, I heard that choosing between the i7 and i5 doesn't make much of a difference if the laptop's primary use if for gaming, browsing, as long as it's not.. video editing/photoshop....? Can anyone clarify that for me? Because buying an i5m instead of an i7m would save me a bit, and I could use that money for a better graphics card. -
I am getting a 3612qm. -
CPU speed stopped mattering significantly around the time of the first core-i series, or perhaps even earlier. If you can find a Sandy Bridge i7 model on discount now that Ivy is out/close to out, go for it.

180w laptops out now will only need 100w in ivy bridge and discrete 28nm graphics and 22nm and 28nm mean smaller form factors and less weight and even smaller power adaptors. I reckon 120w adaptors for high end laptops will be the norm and 90w laptops for 3612qm and gt650m will actually be capable without throttling we see in a lot of laptops these days
i7 2670 or wait for new intel processors??
