If you have a golden unit, you can pursue 4.3-4.4GHz for all cores with no additional voltage added.

Like on desktop it's a lottery, on a few chip you can do 5GHz at 1.3v while on some you can only do 4.3GHz at 1.3v

Luck..
Usually its the chips that come from the middle of the wafer, but you wont be able to discover that, besides buying lots of CPUs and testing them. -
I had a 3920XM ES (QZBU, preproduction E0 stepping) that hit 4.7GHz without too much extra voltage on the anaemic cooling in a P170EM for short bursts, but died quickly
I've had two 3940XMs in P370EM, they are same silicon but a bit better binned 3920XMs, both can do 4.2 all core on stock voltage <1.3V, the old one could do 4.5 at +100mV but was limited by cooling, this current one can x264 stress test at 4.6ghz at +140mV (~1,41V) all day long under the home made waterblock and DIY water cooling setup but 4.6 is just not worth it for the use it gets as my son's computer (Roblox, Terraria, and occasionally some work lol) for how much extra power it draws compared with 4.2
Without special memory (2133mhz+) that most of the EM series Clevos don't handle well, most benches also see minimal improvementLast edited: Oct 15, 2020 -
