Roughly, what is the difference in gaming performance between the 4800 and 3630 as a percentage? and what are their sandy desktop i7 equivalents?

    Gaming performance? Zero.

SNB desktop equivalent? No i7's - maybe the i5's.

Actually, assuming that the CPU is able to maintain full turbo, the 3630qm would perform close to an i7-2600, just a tad under. If full turbo can't be maintained, then yeah there is no SNB i7 that won't outperform it by a fair margin.
