afhstingray, well yes, you're right. as same thing happened/is happening to DDR2 rams. So, I won't wait that long.

Still, I think I'm gonna be more happy paying £280-90 less for just 2gb less ram.

One thing about technology is that when new things come to market, they are very expensive! like even that i7 920qm or the upcoming i9 CPUs! the cpu itself costs more than $1k ! but the prices will start falling down markedly as soon as another technology come. So, i7 is going to get cheaper as soon as i9 get stable in the market. Same thing for ddr3 and probably future ddr5.
So, when the new technology comes, after a while it starts dominating the market, so before the technology start to consider old, you should buy that old technology, and after it gets old, the production will decrease, and as a result the prices will go up!

    considering worst cases:
I need more ram by next year and I really need it! this samsung ram, http://www.memorydepot.com/details.asp?id=MDD3-13S4GS considering the prices will be fixed till next year!(which I'm somehow sure it will get cheaper than £100 at least(currently £150)!), then I'll buy it, replace one of the 2gb modules with it, and I'm happy! 6gb ram and I paid £150 instead of £280-90.
Also, have to add that there might be a chance that I sell my 2gb module for at least £40-50. So based on current prices, I can upgrade for £100. (right now!).

And about that CPU, as I said, since I don't do video editing, encoding/decoding, etc. I wouldn't feel 10% more speed.

    So haven't I make a good decision?

PS: although have to add that Dell's support is ! and I am really considering other options right now! I cancelled my order but I got charged! and no money refunded yet(don't know if they're planning to do so as well!!) ! Plus, I placed a new order, not yet processed after 2 days! and when you call their support, they say they will take care of everything, everything is fine now, blah blah, but they do nothing and after you hang up, you understand they were just saying good words to keep you happy. I have many things to say on Dell's horrible support, but I don't think I have other choices! I'm gonna open up a thread here about my experience if this horrible experience continue!!

    Interesting News:

Guys, I said that I went for the cheaper model, but then after a while I decided to go for a desktop. and then cancelled the second order.

Now something new, someone from orders department from dell called me and asked if I want the first one (the one that was around £1200-300) for around £1000 !!!!(20% discount).
    can anyone believe that?

And I asked him if he can call in an hour so I tell him what to do(I had to discuss it with someone!). and then he didn't call...
What do you guys suggest I do? I really want that discounted price! Its an i7 820 + 6gb ram + 1tb hdd + 1080 full hd monitor for around £1000! a really nice deal...

Really? What I would do is wait until he calls you back.

If you call - good luck trying to get that price (I think), but if he calls...

Dell: so, have you made up your mind?

sina: well, i would really like it, but unfortunately its a little too much...

Dell: we could offer free (fill in the blanks) and an additional $50 off.

sina: is that the best I could hope for?

Dell: yes, should we put this order through now?

    sina: Sure!

or; if he says that is the best possible price, you haven't lost anything either way.

    Good luck!
