I am sure this has been asked countless times, but I couldn't find a good answer through google it was all about the Core 2 series.

I can get the ES/QS version for $260, and the OEM for I think $500. Which one would be the better buy? I know that some ES versions could be missing features Not sure if this one is or not?

    Any advice is appreciated.

This CPU should work very well. I'm using one with the same revision/stepping and I've done some crazy overclocking with it, but it also works fine for daily work. Paired with Throttlestop it is an excellent CPU and imo it's not worth to pay twice as much to get the OEM version.

The OEM product is the final version, it has been fully tested and certified by Intel to work, whereas for ES/QS they are not final products and might be unstable, and there are generally dozens of bugfixes from ES stage to OEM, since there are 3 or 4 stages of ES (pre-ES, ES1, ES2, QS if I'm not mistaken).

True, early ES chips can be buggy and might miss some features, but the ES in question (see first post) will work just as well as the OEM version.

There is basically no difference between the latest ES version and the OEM 920xm. Some people with ES chips seem to be able to go slightly higher with the OC than my OEM 920xm can.
