Apparently there is yet another flagship cpu from Intel.
Intel Core i7-990X Extreme Edition review | TechEye
Imagine overclocking that.![]()
I thought Intel would be focusing on pumping out extreme sandy bridge cpus.![]()
Any thoughts?

Current Sandy Bridge desktop offerings are only socket 1155, which replaces socket 1156. This is for socket 1366, which has yet to be replaced. It will have to wait until Ivy Bridge.
-
Honestly, w/ the 1/3 priced K models, getting this is only for bragging rights or if you have money to burn.
-
So sandy bridge won't offer any extreme cpus until ivy bridge update?
-
On the desktop, not on the laptop.
I really doubt they are going to release any K edition that directly competes with an Extreme Edition processor. -
While not on the same socket, they're still competitors for new purchasers (mostly desktop). If you were building a system the mainstream socket 1155 CPUs are generally good enough and cost a fraction of the 1366. High end consumers will wait for LGA 2011.
