    hi every one.

can any one tell me if a i7 q920 1.6ghz would bottleneck a gtx 680m in games.
and could someone give me an idea of what type of desktop cpu it would perform similarly to i am new to laptops so i have no idea.
i just bought a m15x of ebay with this spec

    cpu:i7 q720

    gpu:gtx 260m

    hdd:500gb 7200rpm

    ram:8gb [dont no the speed]

    1080p screen

Even though it has been replaced by second and third gen processors, I don't think you'll find it to be a bottleneck in most, if not all games. The GPU is generally the most important component when it comes to gaming.

It performs similarly to the following desktop processors:

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
    AMD Athlon X4 553
    Intel Core i5 760

That sounds like a waste of money compared to buying an Ivy Bridge laptop with a 680M already in it.

    What's done is done.
    RAM is 1333 there.
No, 920XM will not bottleneck... especially if overclocked.

Is it 920 or 720? 720 is the 1.6GHz. I agree the GPU won't bottleneck as said for the reasons said. How much are you going to get this GPU for? That will be the real bottleneck.

hi it is defo a 720 1.6ghz and i bought it second hand off ebay £600 and i can get a 680m for £380 so it will have cost me about £1000 i dont think you can get a laptop with a 680m in it for that price.
and as far as i can tell a m15x can take a 680m

But £600 can still probably get you a laptop with a better GPU than the 260m, and you're forgetting... you'll still have 2 laptops. :p 600 is 962 USD that is WAY too much for a 680m. I recommend you return it immediately and find a better deal, somewhere closer to 600 USD.

Why don't you try a little harder with your grammar if you want people to understand you while trying to insult them.

Here ya go: PCSPECIALIST - Custom PCs, Custom Computers, Custom PC, Desktop PC, Custom Built Computers, Gaming PC

You can get a much newer(well balanced) machine for <£1000. Nvidia 670M, 3rd gen Intel core i7, and a 1080p screen.

You'd have to be almost completely technically illiterate to buy a 3+ year old laptop and a $610 video card upgrade that will probably have trade offs.
