I upgraded my Elitebook 8460p from i5-2540M to i7-2670QM. Turbo worked automatically with my i5 and I'm getting constant boost to 3.1Ghz with i5.

After replacing it to i7, I only get max 2.2Ghz and speed will no go over that.
I wonder if the i7 is faulty or there is compatibility problem with motherboard.

Temperature is ok with 55~60C during idle, up from 45~50C with i5. I wonder what might be the cause? Do I need to reinstall windows or any drivers to enable turbo boost?

Please reinstall Windows. Check for any programmes that prevent Turbo Boost from working.

I tried a fresh install of Windows but still stuck at 2.2Ghz. I'm not sure it's board compatibility problem or I got a fake CPU. I checked CPU-Z and it say's I have retail version D2 stepping. I don't think the CPU is faulty. Maybe the board doesn't recognize the CPU properly.
