I am a graphic designer / web devloper and need a notebook with the following features:
1. Screen with an IPS matrix, which provides a much more accurate color output (vs. the standard TN matrix). Any other non-TN matrix could be considered. 17" in size with reasonable resolution, where text is visible without having to use large fonts.
2. DVI-out
3. 4BG max RAM (currently, the standard seems to be 2GB max)
4. AMD CPU (for ideological reasons, I can actually compromise on that one)
After researching the market, I found out that a notebook with a combination of these features does not exist. What do you people think is so unique about my demands?
Also, the most unpleaseant fact is that none of the manufacturers and resellers borther to publish viewing angles and the matrix type.
There seems to be a few barebones manufacturers: MSI (used by ABS), Clevo (used by Sager), and Asus. US manufacturers seem to get those barebones, do a little testing, add some hardware, and sell under their own brand name. Does anyone know about Thinkpads, are those based on a 3rd party barebone as well? None of the barebones I researched would have the right features.
Would someone be able to help me find a barebone or suggest mod ideas to achieve what I need?

Hello and welcome.
It would be better if you put this on the What Notebook should I buy forum, rather then this forum. So you have more answers.
