I have looked a lot on this forum to figure out if I need to do a tme mod so that I can do a fslx mod because I've heard its better to have the overclock on so that timing is better for ram and that the comp will not turn on after mod if oc mode is not on but mine is locked out and many people say you can not tme mod this pll due to not have programmable pll or something like that on the slg but they always are talking about slg8sp556 and not mine which has a different pin layout. which everyone says pci_2 is the tme unlock but have heard many times it works and doesn't work for the slgs. i am a beginner this is my first time oc but am not scared of getting into the comp and doing soldering.
I also saw that if your computer uses pci2 after boot that you can not do a tme mod but i went into setfsb and saw that bit 2=1 and changed it to zero and did not freeze or make a reboot so that possible means i can do the tme mod right? do i need the tme mod to actually oc anyways
anouther thing I was wondering is how do I know which pin is which there are no #s on the board for pins just resistors do i just go with the direction of the pll name?

Is your 1525 Intel HD or dedicate Video you have to tell us more specs? If Intel HD OC isn't going to do much for that laptop your best option is to get a T9300 or T9500 that would more benefit your system more then OC. The T9300 used from eBay isn't that expensive and that would do more to help your computing need then OC for such a old laptop. I have 1525 with T8100 4gig W7x64 and it works fine for my needs it isn't a gaming machine to start with first but a productivity computer it works better at. So your better off with a laptop that age to upgrade the processor to either T8300 or T9300 from the Pentium or Celeron that the 1525 came with originally with. -
well how do you know if its hd or dedicated video all i know is that I have intel965gm I was planing on getting a different cpu but im lookin to get 2.6ghz because I do some gaming but dont want to spend much

Well first off to upgrade your system you need to know about your system otherwise upgrades will be meaningless without know it's internal hardware first. Go to Dell site and use your Service Tag on their site to lookup your 1525 and it will tell you what it has for hardware. You need to do your homework as well if you want meaningful help for upgrade to work. If that isn't dedicate GPU no amount of OC will improve your game play regardless. For game play you need dedicated system with separate GPU to make decent game play. -
i have have done days of research on overclocking with the chipsets i have but have not heard much about gpu i decided not to do anything with this notebook and get a better computer and build a tower

You can invest in a gaming laptop as well not just a desktop if you want portable gaming rig. That 1525 is a good reliable system but for gaming that isn't something it is good at nor will it do. I am going to upgrade the processor to T9300 but that is the extent of upgrading besides having a 500g HDD in it. I did change the optical drive to a DVD+R DL burner though so I can burn on DL media.
