First off, the laptop I am using is an Acer Extensa 5620-6830. It has a stock intel t5250 CPU chip. Anway, I wanted to upgrade the CPU, and my two choices are either the intel t8100 or the intel t8300 CPU. I've looked around and I'm still not sure whether my laptop will be able to use the t8100 or t8300. I read somewhere that you could, but when I was searching for the CPUs, I ran into all these weird numbers. The sSpec number and the part number. Both the t8100 and the t8300 have several different sSpec numbers and part numbers, and I'm not sure whether they're all the same, or different. I just want to know whether the t8100 or t8300 would work on my laptop, and what all those numbers mean. Are the CPUs the same for either the same, or do the sSpec number and part number matter also? Thank you.

Any 800 FSB Core 2 Duo should work.

    Some processors to consider: T7500, T8100/T8300, T9300

I appreciate the info, but can any of my other questions be answered. I want to know if there is any difference or not, since I have my eye on a t8100 and a t8300 at the moment. Just waiting on some more clarification before I buy it.

Worth noting this user upgraded a 5620Z to a T4400-2.2. The T4400/T6400 cpus are cheaper than the T8100/T8300/T9300 CPUs. They miss out on IDA and superLFM mode. If flash the dualIDA 5620G bios then can get an extra 8-13% CPU speed with a IDA-capable T8100/T8300/T9300.
