hello, i am currently pondering on whether the intel core 2 duo T5270 is superior to the T5250 or not. the intel T5250 does is faster than the T5270, but only by a minuscule margin (1.5 ghz per core, vs. 1.4 ghz). and the T5270 does have the advantage of running on a 800mhz FSB, while the T5250 only runs on a 667mhz FSB. also, tech ARP does list the T5270 as having official virtualization support, while the T5250 does not. so, with all of this considered, which is actually the superior processor? if anyone can find some benchmarks about these two processors, that would be helpful as well.

    tia,

The T5270 is the better processor. Bigger number in a series always wins.

ok then, good to hear. but just out of curiosity, are there any benchmarks out there to support this??? also, are either of these processors better than, say, a desktop intel pentium 4 3.0 ghz??

Either of these processors will be significantly faster than a 3.0GHz P4... especially in multi-threaded apps...

    I once tested a T5500 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo vs a P4 3.6GHz w/ HT and the Core 2 ripped it apart in both WPrime (multi-threaded) and SuperPi (single-threaded)...
