Hi there
I own an Acer Aspire 4315 (i965 chipset) and someone is proposing to sell me an Acer Aspire 4730z (GL40 chipset) for cheap. The money from selling my laptop will cover the entire cost of Aspire 4730z.
I know that the i965 and GL40 support the same list of CPUs (i.e. any thing up to 800Mhz FSB).
Is this upgrade worth it?
P.S. I need an answer within the next 7 hours as there is another buyer.

depends on the entire spec I think.
If the spec is higher, why not? You won't be adding any cost to get the newer model of notebook right? -
I thought that all the 4730 have a GL45, but no as the 4730z. So I started hesitating as I wont be abe to upgrade the CPU to one that has an FBS of 1066Mhz.
Adventages of the 4730z over the 4315 are:
IGP X4500
Card reader
Newer battery
So I think I'm going for it even if it has a GL40 chipset only -
yup i would go for it... but if u can . try finding a new laptop with GMA HD...and core i3...
-
I didn't make it in time and the laptop was sold to the other guy
.
I would like a Core i based laptop, even an i3 but that would have to wait. I have the Acer AS 4315 for about two months only and I'm not unhappy with it. So unless I find another good deal I think I'm going to keep it for a while
I'd like something more powerful than the x3100 so I could game every now and then but unfortunately we can't always have what we want
intel i965 or GL40
